about
A balanced future on this planet depends on the choices we make as a society. This is particularly true concerning the food we consume, as protein resources are becoming scarcer as the world population increases. In recent years, sustainable aquaculture production grew into sourcing over half of the world’s consumed fish, representing an alternative to other less sustainable methods.
Aquaculture is one of the five priority sectors to promote Blue Growth in European Union (EU) and the fastest growing food-producing sector world-wide: > 50% of consumed fish are farmed and the human demand for high quality protein is increasing. The European aquaculture industry must revitalise by delivering smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
